How to use the depop fee calculator
- Enter the item price, the shipping the buyer paid and the buyer’s sales tax rate. Depop’s processing fee is charged on all three.
- Enter what the item cost you and what you paid to ship it.
- If the buyer found the item through a boosted listing, tick the boost box. Leave the rate at 12% unless your sale receipt shows a different boost rate.
- Untick “I arranged my own shipping” if you used a Depop shipping label: the boost fee then leaves shipping out.
How Depop fees are worked out (US)
US sellers pay no Depop selling fee. Every sale through Depop Payments pays a processing fee of 3.3% + $0.45, worked out on everything the buyer pays: the item, shipping and sales tax.
processing fee = (item + shipping + tax) × 3.3% + $0.45
If the sale came from a boosted listing, Depop adds a boosting fee. It is a percentage of the item price without tax, plus the shipping cost if you arranged your own shipping. You only pay it when a buyer viewed, clicked or liked the boosted listing and bought within 28 days.
boost fee = (item price + your own shipping) × boost rate
Depop keeps the sales tax and passes it on. Your payout is the item price plus shipping, minus fees.
Worked example
You sell a $50 jacket and the buyer pays $8 shipping plus 6% sales tax. You paid $15 for the jacket and $7.50 for the label you bought yourself.
- The buyer pays ($50 + $8) × 1.06 = $61.48.
- Processing fee: $61.48 × 3.3% + $0.45 = $2.48.
- Payout: $50 + $8 − $2.48 = $55.52.
- Profit: $55.52 − $15 − $7.50 = $33.02.
If the sale came from a boosted listing at 12%, the boost fee is ($50 + $8) × 12% = $6.96, and profit drops to $26.06.

Which rules apply to you
- Where you are based: these rates are for sellers based in the US selling in US dollars. Sellers in the UK and Australia have their own processing rates, and Depop’s Help Centre lists a selling fee for sellers based outside the UK, US and Australia.
- Older listings: Depop removed the 10% US selling fee in July 2024, and its Help Centre now says no selling fee is charged to sellers based in the US. If an old sale receipt shows 10%, it came from before the change.
- Boost rate: Depop’s Help Centre lists 12% for US sellers. Some guides still quote 8%. If your sale receipt shows a different boost rate, enter that rate in the calculator.
- Buyer fee: Depop also charges US buyers a separate marketplace fee. It is added to what the buyer pays and does not come out of your payout.
Common questions
How much does Depop take from a sale in the US?
Only the payment processing fee of 3.3% + $0.45, unless the sale came from a boosted listing. On a $30 item with $6 shipping and no tax, that is $1.64, so you receive $34.36.
Does Depop still charge a 10% fee?
Not for US sellers. Depop removed its 10% selling fee in the US in July 2024. The 3.3% + $0.45 processing fee still applies to every sale.
Is the Depop fee charged on shipping and tax?
Yes. Depop’s processing fee is worked out on the item price plus shipping plus any sales tax, because Depop processes the full amount the buyer pays.
How much is the Depop boost fee?
Depop lists 12% for US sellers, charged only when a buyer interacted with your boosted listing and bought within 28 days. It is worked out on the item price without tax, plus shipping if you arranged your own. A boosted $40 sale with $6 own shipping costs $5.52.
How can I pay less in Depop fees?
Turn off boosting on items that sell well on their own, since the boost fee is much larger than the processing fee. The processing fee itself applies to every sale through Depop Payments.
